Configure Wake on LAN

  • Wake on LAN (WoL) is an Ethernet networking standard that allows a computer to be turned on from sleep mode remotely.
  • To do this, you must enable the WoL function for each VLAN so that the router forwards the IP broadcast packets. This allows the so-called "magic packets" to be sent from a WoL server to a WoL client.
  • With WoL profiles you can also define which WoL servers or which protocols are allowed.

Configure Wake on LAN (IP directed broadcast)

  1. Under Settings select Wake on LAN Profile
  2. Click on + and enter a name under Profile Name and confirm the entry
  3. Click + Rule
  4. Enter the following parameters for one or a maximum of 100 rules:
    • Select protocol (TCP, UDP or IP)
    • Opional: Enter Source IP and select network mask (e.g. 192.168.99. 241/32 if only one host should be allowed). Anything is permitted as a default value (any)
    • Optional and only if TCP or UDP was selected as protocol: Enter Destination Port e.g. 9080
    • Confirm the entries for each rule and save them at the end
  5. Under locations, select the location where Wake on LAN should be activated
  6. Under VLANs, select the VLAN where Wake on LAN should be enabled
  7. Activate Wake on LAN there
