WLAN Bandsteering Mode

You can find these features under the corresponding access point at a location in the Dashboard.

Bandsteering Mode is a technique used in dual-band WiFi deployments to encourage dual-band client devices such as most modern smartphones, tablets, laptops, and PCs to use the higher-capacity 5 GHz band, leaving the 2.4 GHz band available for older devices.

  • Disabled:Bandsteering mode is disabled
  • 5GHz Preferred: The access point causes devices to preferentially connect to the 5GHz band.
  • Force 5GHz: The access point will force the dual-band client to use the 5Ghz band.
  • Balance Bands: In this band control mode, the access point will use client load and RSSI information that will balance the clients across the two frequencies and best use the ones available.
