General Information LAN Switches

General information on LAN switches

  • Initial pairing Can take up to 10 minutes.
  • Migrate to another location If a switch is migrated to another location, the onboarding/pairing process will not work until the switch at the old location has been unpaired or deleted.
  • Move location If a switch is to be moved to another location, the switch simply needs to be unpaired. You can then pair the switch at the new location.
  • Replace switch If a switch is to be replaced by another switch, e.g. an 8-port switch by a 24-port switch, all switch ports must be reconfigured. The rest of the configuration remains the same.
  • Use an access point with a PoE injector The access point must be powerful enough for this, otherwise the Wifi will not work. The higher of the two PoE standards should be used.
  • Switch - CPE link Multizone must be configured for this. Otherwise, SSIDs and switch ports that are assigned to a group other than the default group corp will not work.
  • Switches with each other For this, the connection ports must be configured as port type Trunk with untagged VLAN corp1.
  • Switches not from Swisscom If switches are ordered via channels other than Swisscom, the onboarding process will not work. You can use these normally as switches in the network, but you cannot configure them via the dashboard.
  • 10 GB uplink via SFP module Currently only works with the 8-port switch.
  • SFP ports All SFP ports on the switch are without PoE.
  • Aruba Switches Spanning Tree is always activated on the Aruba switches, but not on the Centro Business 2.0. Therefore, the following configuration/connection is not allowed:
    • Switch-1 to CB Port 1
    • Switch-2 to CB Port 2
    • Connect Switch-1 and Switch-2
